May 20, 1805

Seven People interested in Universalism went to hear Rev. John Murray, a founder of Universalism speak.

Christmas Eve 1805

The group formed First Universalist Society of Salem.

1807

Membership grew to 300 members by the second anniversary of the church.

August 17, 1808

Society purchased land on Rust Street. This day the Cornerstone of the building was laid by Hosea Ballou, who would become one of the most important ministers in Universalist history.

Today

We are a diverse, welcoming congregation of many faiths, and welcoming of all peoples who enter into fellowship with us.
